Who is SV?

SV was a Cambodian university professor teaching major law at the University of Law in Phnom Penh. In search of a dream home for my wife Zanine and me, we decided to leave our home country and study in Canberra, Australia. Without knowing the community there, I worked diligently in a grocery store, a mushroom farm, and a café since 2016.However, due to COVID-19, I lost all my jobs and decided to open my first home café in the residential area of Lawson in April 2020. SV Coffee & Bakery was established in response to the community’s request for support in applying for the licensing to operate in a residential area. The community is the heart of our success, and I am committed to serving it as much as I can.I created this homepage to showcase all the work I devote to my community and to preserve it as a memory for future generations in my area.

Justice of the Peace Service (Monday-Wednesday-Friday 11:00AM-12:30AM)

We thank Rod, Aileen, and Colleen for providing free Justice of the Peace services to the community at SV Coffee & Bakery. Our JPs are available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The service is free of charge and is offered to all groups without discrimination.

Mummies' Day (Friday 10AM)

SV Community Hub organizes Mummies' Day for all moms seeking support in raising their little ones. This event allows moms to share their experiences and support each other’s mental health during the postpartum period. Mummies' Day takes place every Friday at 10 AM. In partnership with SV Coffee & Bakery, all moms receive a 50% discount on all drinks purchased at the café.

Community and Kids' Market ( Sunday 09:00AM - 12:00PM)

We organize a monthly community market at our café to raise awareness of small businesses in our suburb. Registration is free for all small businesses to set up a stall in our space and sell their products. This market not only brings our community together but also helps train our young kids in handling money, developing a business mindset, and improving their communication skills. The market takes place twice a month, primarily on Sunday mornings.

Business Connect (Sunday 08:00AM - 12:00PM)

Business Connect is organized by the SV Community Hub at SV Coffee and Bakery every Sunday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This program allows local businesses in the Yerrabi and Ginninderra areas to advertise your brand to the community. It’s a free event designed to help local businesses gain visibility and support from residents. Each session lasts between 1 to 2 hours, providing you with the opportunity to connect and market your business to customers.

Men's Coffee Catch Up (Saturday 0100PM

Men's Catch-up is organized to provide an opportunity for men to share experiences and engage in informal conversations on various topics, especially about life in general. There’s no need for formal booking; just come at 1 PM on Saturday and make friends with other men who attend.

Community Clean Up (First Sunday of the month 08AM-09AM)

Community Clean-up Day is one of the most important events organized by SV Community Hub to raise awareness and promote the routine of cleaning up our community. This event is run once a month on the first Sunday, from 8 AM to 9 AM. SV Community Hub will provide rubbish bags for collecting trash, and all you need to bring is a pair of garden gloves. We will walk around the community, collecting litter from public areas. There is no booking needed for this event. You just need to show up at SV Coffee & Bakery at 08AM and grab some bags.

SV Christmas Market (24/November/2024)

The Christmas Market is typically organized in November to provide local businesses the opportunity to sell their products as gifts for the community. If you are a local business in Canberra, especially around SV Coffee & Bakery, feel free to book your stall now for free. We only accept 10 stalls for this market on a first-come, first-served basis. Kids' Market (08/December/2024)

The aim of the Kids' Market is to help children aged 5 to 17 learn crafting, creativity, time management, communication, social skills, budgeting, and to encourage entrepreneurship at a young age.
